Hanukkah (Feast of Dedication)~begins tonight. It’s not only a Jewish holiday, but it’s for all believers in Christ as well. We are grafted into their vine thru Jesus (Galations 3:14 & 26-29 & a whole list of other scriptures back this as well) “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:29. Jesus celebrated Hanukkah & it’s actually only mentioned in scripture in the Gospels~”At that time the Feast of the Dedication took place at Jerusalem.” John 10:22.

The history of Hanukkah took place in the intertestamental period (between writing the both testaments: Torah scriptures & Gospels) when the Maccabees drove out the Greco-Assyrians & rededicated the Temple of the Lord to the God of Israel, our Loving, Heavenly Father, our Omnipotent Creator. At that time they lit the candles on the Menorah & only had enough oil for 1 day, but God supernaturally kept it lit for 8 days, hence the 8 candles representing them; the 9th candle called the “Servant” candle is used to light those candles each night.

Just as that candle lights the other 8 on the Menorah, Jesus has made us to be “supernatural lights” to the world. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven!” Matthew 5:14-16. May you have a wonderful Happy Hanukkah~all because of Jesus! May you dedicate all you are & have to Jesus, God will supernaturally fill you, secure you, protect you & all the while His light will shine thru you! Happy Hanukkah! :o)
