We are not promised tomorrow, nor in harsh reality are we even promised the next second…but we are delightfully promised that the Lord will never leave us, nor forsake us, and that from now until eternity we will dwell with Him if we freely chose to. Earthly things are limited, deteriorate, and change, as do we, however, our Heavenly Father, Creator of all things, the Great I Am, the Alpha and Omega is omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-wise, all-knowing) and never changing. In reality, we can only really give our children empty promises because we cannot truthfully promise our children that we will be there for them in the next hour, nor this evening, nor even tomorrow, but we can lead them to the One that can promise that. We cannot be with them 24 hours a day, but we can lead them to the One that can. We cannot hold their hand during all of their sicknesses, nor fears, but we can lead them to the One that can. We cannot heal all of their ways, nor paths, nor relationships when they make poor free-will decisions, but we can lead them to the One that can. We do not know what our child truly needs, but we can lead them to the One that does know and can provide it. Nor, shocking of all, can you argue your child’s way into heaven, but we can lead them to the Only One that can excitedly welcome them home. May you begin to immediately, and continuously guide and encourage your child/children’s personal relationship with Jesus; isn’t that what God did and continues to do for you?
